March 15th - 31st, 2023 Bari, Italy

From March 15th to 31st, Hanna Yailymova, from the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, visited the University of Bari Aldo Moro, where she lectured the PhD-level course “GiS Methods and Technologies for Satellite Image Analysis”.

The use of geoinformation systems for studying the Earth's surface and monitoring various processes and phenomena is becoming more and more common every year. The issue of processing and the possibility of aggregating big satellite data is becoming relevant. During the course, the possibilities of geospatial intelligence and its development, as well as existing global land cover maps and how artificial intelligence is used to obtain them will be considered.

Participants in UNIBA were joined remotely by students from Ukraine. Together, they learned various methods of processing remote sensing data for research and mapping of the territory, acquiring skills in specialized programs for processing satellite and geospatial data, and applying them in practical tasks related to the SWIFTT project.

This course is co-organized by the Space Research Institute of the National Academy of Sciences of Ukraine, the National Technical University of Ukraine “Igor Sikorsky Kyiv Polytechnic Institute”, and the Knowledge Discovery and Data Engineering Laboratory of the University of Bari Aldo Moro.
