SWIFTT Interview: Nataliia Kussul
SWIFTT will use the rich Copernicus Sentinel satellite data and powerful machine-learning models, to help foresters identify changes in tree health, map dieback in their forests, and to coordinate sanitary cuts faster, thereby preventing the spread of disease and insect outbreaks. Windthrow accounts for more than half of all damaged timber in European forests. The SWIFTT platform will help foresters to quickly measure damage from a recent storm and coordinate a faster post-storm response, limiting the risk of future threats.
