Project partners from Timbtrack and Rīgas meži got together on July 1st in Riga, Latvia, to present SWIFTT's current version to Rīgas Meži foresters and collect their feedback on how useful and easy to understand it is. Partners received from the foresters valuable feedback and recommendations on improving the platform that will help shape the it to better match the needs of future users.
Collecting high-quality data is essential for training SWIFTT's models, so they can accurately analyse spruce bark beetle dieback. Because of that, the partners discussed how to collect the data needed to train the models and prepared a data collection protocol. Foresters were also asked for their thoughts on collecting this data.
SWIFTT will provide forest managers with affordable, simple and effective remote sensing tools backed up by powerful machine learning models. Our solution will offer a holistic health monitoring service using Copernicus satellite imagery to detect and map the various risks to which forests and their managers are exposed.
