The SWIFTT Project was highlighted by the Latvian website Labs of Latvia.
"The forestry management company Rīgas meži (Riga Forests) is taking part in an international project tasked with developing a digital tool for monitoring and managing forest risks. As one of the project partners, Rīgas meži is involved in developing and testing the tool in the forests that it manages.
Launched late last year, Satellites for Wilderness Inspection and Forest Threat Tracking (SWIFTT) – a Horizon Europe project – aims to equip forest managers with a tool, which will use real-time high-resolution remote sensing data from the EU’s Copernicus Earth observation satellites and embrace artificial intelligence to allow monitoring forest areas and risk zones in Europe affected by pests, fires and high wind damage with an accuracy of 10 metres."
