Earlier this month, SWIFTT partner Sofiia Drozd from the Space Research Institute of Ukraine (SRI NASU-SSAU) presented the project's main objectives and the Ukrainian research team results at the GEO Week and the Ministerial Summit 2023, which was held on November 6th-10th, 2023, in Cape Town, South Africa.
The SWIFTT project was presented at the stand of the European Commission, which invited projects funded by the Commission contributing to the achievement of the GEO strategic goal of this decade 'Data for All'.
The research team from SRI NASU-SSAU used machine learning on high spatial resolution satellite data from Copernicus Sentinel-1 and 2 to create a European forest type map for for 2022, as well as applying geospatial intelligence to monitor forest diseases.
